Friday was a day of firsts for Ava. Her first attempt at scooping out the insides of her very own pumpkin, her first (well, technically it was our first) parent/teacher conference and her first tailgate party Friday night!
Friday morning's are laid back in our house; we typically don't go into work until around noon so we usually have some quality family time in the mornings. Today's quality time consisted of Ava, her pumpkins, some spoons and me with the camera! She was very cautious at first, trying to figure out what I was asking her to do....but then she figured it out. She sat there, on the lawn, for a good 30 minutes scooping out her pumpkin seeds...touching them and even trying to taste them before she was done.
At noon, we arrived at her preschool, dropping her off in her classroom for her nap. Once she was asleep her teacher took me into "the office" for her parent/teacher conference! All good news...she is doing great in her new room. She has almost mastered all of the skills on the assessment and she is only 21 months old! Her teacher, Miss Cynthia (who we love by the way), said that she really should have given the class the 2 year old assessment because they are all so advanced. The only area for Ava to improve on is being more social. Can you believe that? The child doesn't stop talking as soon as we pick her up from school until she goes to sleep, but when she's there she's very quiet. Polite, but quiet. Hopefully it's just because it's a fairly new room with all boys! She's bound to be the quiet one...
Finally, Friday night, Radiant hosted a Trick-or-Treat Tailgate Party in our parking lot. We had an amazing turnout with hundreds of cars coming to park and pass out candy to the kids. Ava was in her ladybug costume for all of 1 hour before she was tired of the tulle and wanted it off! Oh well, it was cute in the pictures and cute while it lasted! She enjoyed passing out candy to the other kids, so much so that when I walked her around to trick-or-treat she was taking candy out of her bucket and giving it back to the people! It didn't take her long before she figured out that wasn't how it worked...and then she wanted to eat it all. When I told her no more, she just began to suck on the wrappers until she could taste something! She was determined...but we all had a great time.
